Kathy
Young has worked in the community, economic, and workforce development fields
since 1998. As a former
Market Street Project Manager, Ms. Young led workforce and economic development strategy
processes in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and North Carolina and also worked closely on projects in Arkansas, Indiana,
Virginia, and West Virginia. Ms. Young is currently the Director of Operations for
the firm, and is one of the firm's four Principals and Shareholders.
She first joined
Market
Street in
2000.
In
addition to the considerable experience Ms. Young has facilitating stakeholder
focus groups and conducting interviews as part of the
Market Street team, she also is a skilled facilitator in the
corporate and neighborhood environments. Ms. Young's professional experience
includes planning and evaluation work for Hands On
Atlanta's School Programs, private sector management planning, and downtown planning with Central Atlanta Progress,
Inc. Prior to joining
Market Street, Ms. Young also worked with The Nature Conservancy of
Tennessee for several years as a community outreach coordinator, public
relations representative, and fundraiser. Her research on downtown housing issues was published
in the Journal of Urban Planning and Development in 2008.
Ms. Young holds a master’s degree in City Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Vanderbilt University.
